Case Study 3 - Technical assessment of AMR Systems integration

NEC-OMAN has contracted a technology vendor for delivering Automated Meter Reading Systems integration with Enterprise Service Bus(ESB) and Message Broker solution for its customer .

NEC Oman Approached AISmart Solutions Pvt. Ltd to do a third party Assessment of the solution delivered by vendor to certify that delivery is in compliance with stated functional scope as per the offer document and Nonfunctional requirements Viz Performance, Security, usability and maintainability.

The scope of the verification covered:

  • User Acceptance of Integration solution on behalf of NEC covering following aspects
  • Functionality of the solution that includes -
    • MDM-CCB and Customer portal Integration through ESB and message broker
    • WFM-CCB integration through ESB and Message broker integration 
  • Architecture validation including aspects of Security, Scalability, Maintainability and Performance as per the Technology vendor’s offer
  • Extensibility of the Integration solutions for on-boarding future systems 
  • Adequate documentation to operations teams is provided as part of deliverables. 
  • Adequate documentation to Infra/Devops team is delivered. 
  • To verify solution is in compliance with SDLC standards including code walk throughs.
  • Verification of End user  UAT

Below process was followed for the engagement

  • The project documentation covering scope, offer document, test documentation was shared to AISmart by NEC.
  • AISmart team consisting of below members was responsible for the assessment.
    • A Solution Architect with extensive knowledge on MuleESB and Kafka Message broker 
    • Senior Solution delivery management expert
  • AISmart team has spent 3 days and reviewed the documentation to understand the detailed scope and other artifacts of the solution.
  • A Kickoff session was hosted by NEC and all the stakeholders from NEC and AIUT were introduced to AISmart team.
  • There were multiple  Verification sessions each spanning 2 to 3 hours, to go through the test execution of each of the Interfaces, test results documented along with evidence during these sessions.
  • Post the completion of the sessions AISmart team spent 2 weeks going through the documents and evidence collected during the sessions and consolidated the findings into this report.

The findings were presented to NEC and the technology vendor detailing the gaps in delivery and next steps to get a logical conclusion to the engagement.

Follow up sessions were conducted to draw actions items to close the gaps and the same were tracked to closure working with technology vendor.
